nslookup from local machines works fine, as does ping.Prior to the patch my /etc/hosts file only contained my static DHCP entries. Also before I the /etc/rc.par-isc-dhcpd file by hand, it didn't seem to get used.Eh, that's supposed to say before I ran /etc/rc.parse-isc-dhcpd by hand.Unfortunately it seems that it (the running of /etc/rc.parse-isc-dhcpd) is not happening automatically, even after a reboot.Indeed I was correct in that the php was never calling it in the first place. The most commonly reported symptom is that clients cannot resolve A or PTR records for other client machines while using the VAs or the Roaming Client for DNS resolution.
Expected behaviour is that foreman will remove the hosts lease from the appropriate smart-proxy.
The client then receives information from the authoritative DNS server indicating which server will be processing the update.
The roaming client is lightweight software installed on Windows machines which takes in the client’s DNS queries and conditionally forwards them to Umbrella anycast resolvers.
This shell script is pretty much designed so that it can be a startup script and forked in the background, though.
So I'm going to go ahead and suggest that it is placed in the init subsystem. It may have something to do with the fact that tail -F is looking for an inode change, but over time my static leases seem to disappear from the /etc/hosts.
